About

The New Zealand Southern Lakes Swim Series is a project in the making. A series of lake swim events encompassing, initially, lakes in the South Island. And even more initially - the south of the south island.

The organisors of the events of The Ruby Swim Wanaka, The Legend Queenstown, The Clyde Swim, Meridian Swim Lake Ruataniwha and Across the Lake Te Anau have got together to further the huge interest in freshwater lake swimming.

To enhance a solid community of swimmers is what we aim to do.

The Rules:

It's going to be kept simple.

Right now (2026/27 season) you simply need to enter 4 out of the 5 events. But you must be at the last event of the series - The Whakitipu Legend in Queenstown so the winner can be awarded their prize. Live! That's it. It doesn't matter what distance you swim at any of the individual events. You just need to enter 4 of the 5, any distance.

Obviously the aim of this is to get more people swimming in more events in order to grow the swimmer base, but also too, to help make sure each event is promoted and attended. And in doing so we all gain. The event organisors, the swim community but ultimately, swimming as a sport gains.

In subsequent years we will aim for category (roughly the same distance) winners and an Overall Ranking winner. Plus age group rankings and winners.

It could be you!
